Recently we were thrilled to organise one of our favourite team building activities in Spain: a team building survival challenge inspired by the popular television show “Survivor”. The activity is the ideal setting to optimise teamwork and inspire positive values such as camaraderie and motivation in your workforce. Most importantly, it’s the perfect opportunity to discover and explore one of the most prestigious natural sites of Spain while you undertake a number of sporting exercises outdoors.
Survive the elements in the natural reserve of Alcalá de Henares
Inspired by the famous television show “Survivor“, our survival challenge is one of our favourite “alternative” events for team building in Madrid. Participants partake in a series of outdoor challenges all the while taking in Spain’s natural heritage and biodiversity.
A short distance outside of Madrid, you can find the wonderful site of Alcalá de Henares and its natural park, surrounded by mountains with rich ecological and cultural heritage. The mountains hide the archaeological remains of the diverse cultures that have occupied Alcalá and the valley of henares throughout History. A perfect setting to organise our CSR activities (Corporate Social Responsibility) such as reforestation or the making of birds’ nests, sporting activities, or adventure team building, all of which allow us to take a break from the daily routine and buzz of the city, breathe a bit of fresh air, and live an authentic experience with your work colleagues.
Let the team building survival challenge begin!
We recently embarked on this survival team building activity with a group of 100 participants who had travelled from all over Spain. We picked them up and drove them to the Cerros de Alcalá mountains to start our day in the natural park. The objective was simple: split into teams, our participants had to demonstrate their survival skills and overcome the multiple challenges we set them.
Participants were put to the test and had to demonstrate their abilities to work as a team: assigning tasks, active listening, concentration, orientation, coordination, and a number of other skills. Teams had to complete each challenge in the quickest time in order to earn top scores in the event. Our “survivors” were given maps and compasses to help guide them through the pine-covered mountains, through the twisting paths, and around the banks of the Henares river.
This team building survival challenge truly brought out the best of our participants on an individual level and as a group: the will to overcome difficult challenges, the joy of working in consolidated teams and, most importantly, the pleasure of participating in an event organised by your company for the benefit of its employees.
